Not only did today mark one month of work at the Globe, I also found myself the proud new dweller of a cubicle. It’s a temporary location as they install cubicles/shift the copy desk around. (The reason behind all this is a kind of long story that tends to spark controversy every time it’s brought up in conversation.) My current space is effectively in a corner, which allows me to go extended periods of time without really talking to anyone. This can be good for nights like tonight, when I have a fair amount of work to keep me busy and I’m not feeling particularly chatty. Though at the end of the night, Jim told me I really needed to keep it down over there. Hah.
My cubicle is kind of drab, but I’ve personalized it with my two office possessions: hand sanitizer and a glass for water. I have several empty drawers that I don’t know what to do with, so I put a granola bar in one of them. There’s also my very own phone, and I must admit, every time I have to answer the phone at work, my initial response it to say “Daily Texan.” Weird? C’est la vie.
Oh, I also walked from the T to work in a thunderstorm. Seriously regretting my choice to leave the rain boots at home.

What!? Hand sanitizer and a glass of water!? No pinkness? Gabby, you’ve changed…
Oh and happen to have gotten any killer headlines in the paper yet? I need some English headlines in my life.

Haha! I didn’t take much to the office since I knew my seat would change, but I’m going to spruce it up a bit. And don’t worry, a fellow intern commented last week on my pink shirt, raincoat, umbrella, and phone.

So, here’s a way you, single-handedly, can virtually ensure the rest of your Boston stay will be sunny and rain free:
Go buy some rainboots.
Love you!
