I’m still here!

The past week has been a whirlwind of work, packing, moving, unpacking, cleaning, organizing, various trips to Walmart for miscellaneous supplies (the store is quite peaceful at 12:30 a.m. after work), getting our washer and dryer, and frantically throwing towels and sheets on the floor when the drain hose popped out of the washer mid-load, flooding the laundry room and kitchen. Oh, and meeting Tito, the friendliest cat in the world, who lives below us and jumped into my trunk the other night while I was unloading groceries. I think he wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

Inspired by Sandy, I baked this cake for the holiday.

(I used a white cake recipe and cream cheese frosting.)

Unfortunately, I did not take great photos. But you get the idea. And it was a hit in the newsroom, where one co-worker said it was “red, white and blue-licious.” Hooray, America!
